Whole-Home Filtration in Scottsdale, Sized From Your Test
We install whole-home carbon filtration on your main water line, so the water at every shower, faucet and appliance is treated, not just the kitchen tap. Each system is sized from your own water test and the flow your home actually uses.

What a Whole-Home Filter Does, and What It Doesn't
This kind of system treats water at the point where it enters your home. We mount it on the main supply line, upstream of the water heater, so everything that flows into the house passes through it first. Inside the tank is a bed of activated or catalytic carbon. Chlorine, chloramine and many of the organic compounds that cause off tastes and smells cling to the carbon surface as water moves through. A sediment cartridge mounted before the tank holds back grit that would otherwise coat the carbon and shorten its life.
Hardness is a different problem. Calcium and magnesium move right through carbon, so if white scale on fixtures is what bothers you, a water softener handles that, and many homes run both in series. For the purest drinking water at a single faucet, reverse osmosis under the sink goes beyond what carbon can do. Testing comes first so you know which of these your water really needs.
What Your Installation Includes
- Sediment prefilter
- A replaceable cartridge in its own housing catches sand, rust flakes and pipe scale before they reach the carbon. It keeps the media bed from packing down, and it is the part you will swap on a routine schedule.
- Carbon media tank sized to flow
- We size the tank by your peak flow in gallons per minute, not by square footage. Water needs enough contact time in the carbon bed to be filtered properly, and an undersized tank lets chlorine slip through when two showers run at once.
- Control valve and bypass
- Backwashing systems get a control valve that reverses flow on a schedule to lift and rinse the carbon bed. A bypass valve lets you isolate the filter for service while the rest of your home keeps its water.
- Plumbing tie-in and bonding
- We cut into the main line with full-port shutoffs and unions so the system can be removed cleanly later. If your home has metal supply pipe, we add a bonding jumper across the new section so the electrical ground path stays continuous.
- Installation as part of the system
- Installation is included with our water treatment systems. There is no separate labor bill stacked on top of the equipment.
Signs Your Home Would Benefit From Whole-Home Filtration
A pool smell from the shower
Hot water releases chlorine into the air as steam. If the bathroom smells like a pool, the disinfectant is reaching every tap, not just the one you drink from.
Dry skin or brittle hair after bathing
Many people notice their skin and hair feel better on filtered water. A countertop pitcher can't help here because the shower is fed straight from the main line.
Coffee and ice taste off
Your refrigerator's small inline filter may be overloaded or overdue. Treating water at the point of entry takes that load off and improves the water the fridge and coffee maker receive.
Grit in faucet aerators
Unscrew an aerator and look at the little screen. Sand or dark flakes trapped there mean particles are traveling through your plumbing, and a cartridge at the main line catches them before they wear on valves and appliance inlets.
You're adding a softener anyway
Many homes have a pre-plumbed loop in the garage meant for water treatment. Putting carbon ahead of a softener in that loop shields the softener resin from chlorine, which slowly breaks resin beads down.
How the Work Runs, From Test to Startup
- 1
Free water test and walkthrough
We test your water at no charge and with zero obligation, then look at where your main line enters, the pipe material and size, and where a drain line can run. The results tell us whether carbon alone is enough or whether a softener should sit downstream.
- 2
Installed pricing by phone
You get the installed system price over the phone, with the tank size, media type and plumbing work named. Nothing is added after the fact.
- 3
Install day
We shut off the main, cut in the shutoffs, bypass and unions, set the prefilter and tank, and run the backwash drain to an approved air gap. Floors and the work area are covered, and old pipe and packaging leave with us.
- 4
Rinse, leak check and handoff
Fresh carbon sheds a fine black powder at first, so we run the bed to drain until the water comes out clear. Then we go over every joint for drips, test pressure at a faucet, and show you how the bypass and prefilter work so routine upkeep is something you can do yourself.

What Moves the Price of a Whole-Home System
Most of the cost comes from two things: how much water your home moves at peak, and how easy it is to reach the main line. We give you installed system pricing by phone after the free test, so you see the full figure before any work is scheduled.
- Peak flow and tank size
- More bathrooms and simultaneous use need a larger carbon bed to keep enough contact time. Tank size drives both equipment cost and media replacement cost later.
- Catalytic or standard carbon
- Catalytic carbon handles chloramine far better than standard activated carbon and costs more. Your test results decide which one makes sense.
- Existing loop or new plumbing
- A pre-plumbed treatment loop shortens the job. Without one, we run new pipe from the main, and the length, pipe material and wall access all add labor.
- Drain and placement
- Backwashing tanks need a drain within reach. Systems placed outdoors also need shading or a cover, since direct sun degrades plastic housings.
Whole-Home Filtration Questions
Something not covered here? (480) 256-8478
Will a whole-home filter lower my water pressure?
When the tank matches your flow, the pressure loss is slight and most families never feel it. Weak showers usually trace back to a tank that is too small or a prefilter cartridge left in too long. We size from your peak demand and show you how to tell when the cartridge is due.
How often does the carbon need to be replaced?
The prefilter cartridge needs changing regularly, more often if your water carries a lot of sediment. The carbon bed lasts much longer and depends on how much water your home uses and how much chlorine it carries. We set expectations from your test results rather than a generic schedule.
Does whole-home filtration stop hard water scale?
No. Carbon reduces chlorine, odors and many organic compounds, but calcium and magnesium pass through. If scale is the problem, pair the filter with a water softener. We can install both in one visit.
Will homeowner's insurance pay for a filtration system?
Generally no, because it is an upgrade rather than repair of covered damage. If an old filter housing or fitting has already leaked, we photograph what we find and write down what failed so you have clear records to bring to your insurer. We explain what we saw, but the coverage decision belongs to your adjuster.
What warranty comes with the system?
Equipment valves carry a 5-year warranty. Our installation and labor are covered separately for five years too. If a joint we made starts to weep or the control valve acts up, call us and we come back to make it right.
